Something about us

Our Crobotics team began its journey in 2017. A student, Borna Massari, had the idea to start a robotics team and gather a group of individuals with different talents and skills, thus beginning something extraordinary. He shared his bold idea with physics teacher Patricija Nikolaus. At first, the teacher thought it would be almost impossible to raise enough funds to take part in the competition, considering the high costs, lack of workspace, and limited institutional support. Nevertheless, Borna did not give up on his idea. He believed in the potential that robotics offers for learning, development, and teamwork, and he was ready to face every obstacle. After some time, Borna managed to convince the teacher, and that is how the first robotics team of our high school was founded. The first members were Lucija Žužić, Andrej Čizmarević, Darijan Jelušić, Elizaveta Chernova, Ian Golub, Luka Grebo, and teachers Goran Boneta and Patricija Nikolaus, and their team was named Crobotics #7201.

Despite financial challenges and limited resources, the team managed to raise funds and travel to the FIRST Robotics Competition in New York. Their robot, built with a budget of only 400 dollars, was the result of exceptional creativity and dedicated work. Competing against teams from all over the world, Crobotics surprised everyone with its innovative approach and technical solutions, winning two prestigious awards: the Rookie Inspiration Award and the Highest Rookie Seed Award in 2018.

But this story did not end there; it became the foundation for the generations that followed.

New team members continued to build our team, and over the years it grew through perseverance, teamwork, and a passion for robotics. Each generation brought its own ideas, knowledge, and energy, further developing the team.

Throughout its existence, Crobotics Team #7201 has traveled to many cities, from Istanbul all the way to America. Members learned about robotics, explored the world, competed, and of course socialized and had fun.

In almost 10 years of existence, the team has won many awards. In addition to those already mentioned, these include 22nd place in 2020 in Istanbul, 5th place in 2023, also in Istanbul, and 9th place in 2024 in New York.

Special recognition should be given to the new generation, which achieved outstanding success and brought honor to our team at the competition in Chicago in 2026. They won 3rd place, proving the quality and continuity of the team’s work. This placement is the best in the entire history of the Crobotics team, and the names that enter history with it are Paolo Medvedić, Nikola Vlašić, Clara Štimac, Adrijano Jardas, Lovro Dragičević, Yaroslava Okhrimenko, Fran Filip Frančišković, Mateo Manestar, and teachers Patricija Nikolaus and Goran Boneta.

Today, Crobotics is not just a team; it is our community that continuously grows, learns, and inspires. What began as one bold idea has turned into an ongoing success story, proving that with dedication, knowledge, and unity, boundaries truly do not exist.
